Design Your QR Code
View Encoded Static Data

Generate permanent, high-resolution QR codes directly inside your browser. No redirects, no expiration, no account required, and 100% private.
A static QR code stores your actual data, such as a web address, WiFi password or contact card, directly in its pattern, so it works offline, never expires and needs no server.
This is the complete generator. For a step-by-step walkthrough of every option, see the static QR code generator guide page.

The generator writes a standard ISO/IEC 18004 symbol, so the camera app already on an iPhone or Android phone reads it. Nobody has to install a scanner first.
The data is in the code itself. A scan opens your URL, joins the WiFi network or offers the contact card directly, with no redirect server in between to slow it down or go offline.
What is actually inside each kind of code, and what that means once it is printed.

Download the code as an SVG, which a print shop can scale to any size without losing its edges, or as a PNG up to 4096 pixels square for offset printing, laser engraving, acrylic stands and packaging.
Either file holds a clean edge at 300 DPI and above, so the modules stay square and the scanner has nothing to guess at.
The jobs people print static codes for most often.
Put the network name and password in a code on the counter or the fridge. Guests scan it and join without asking for the password or typing it.
Print your contact card as a code on the back of a business card. One scan saves your name, phone, email and address to the phone’s contacts.
Point a table sticker at the menu page or a PDF brochure. Update the page and the printed code still works, as long as the address stays the same.
Encode the date, start time and venue. A scan offers to add the event to Apple Calendar or Google Calendar.
Open a WhatsApp or SMS conversation with your number and a pre-filled first message. The customer only has to press send.
Encode latitude and longitude. Delivery drivers and visitors scan it and the phone opens the spot in its maps app.
The read-out under the preview is a summary of these steps.
Every change in the form re-encodes the symbol from scratch. The payload is turned into UTF-8 bytes and stored in byte mode, which is why the read-out counts bytes rather than characters. A plain letter or digit is one byte, an accented letter is usually two, and most emoji are four.
The engine then starts at version 1, which is 21 modules square, and moves up one version at a time until the data and the error correction codewords fit at the level you chose. Version 40 is 177 modules square and is the largest the standard defines. The codewords are split into Reed-Solomon blocks and interleaved, so a smudge across one part of the print costs a little from every block instead of wiping out one whole block.
Finally it tries all eight mask patterns from ISO/IEC 18004, scores each one with the four penalty rules (long runs of one colour, solid 2×2 blocks, patterns that resemble a finder square, and an imbalance of dark and light), and keeps the lowest score. That is what stops a long run of black or white from confusing a scanner.
If you watch the version number while you type, you can see the moment an extra tracking parameter tips a URL into the next size up. A shorter payload is the cheapest way to get a symbol that scans from further away.
